Your Mac can do much more than open apps and browse the web. macOS Tahoe 26 adds several genuinely useful features that are easy to miss. Here are 10 worth learning because they can save time, reduce interruptions and make everyday work easier.

1. Turn Spotlight into a command center

Press Command–Space to open Spotlight. In macOS Tahoe, Spotlight can do more than find files and apps: it can perform system and app actions, run shortcuts, create events and help you get things done without jumping between windows.

2. Recover things you copied earlier

Spotlight now includes a Clipboard browsing view. It can help you find recently copied text, images, links and files instead of losing something the moment you copy the next item. Open Spotlight and use the Clipboard view; Apple also documents Command–4 as a quick way to reach it from Spotlight.

3. Search specifically for screenshots

If your Desktop or Screenshots folder is a mess, Spotlight can help. Type /screenshots to get to recent screenshots, then refine the search using text contained inside them.

4. Search a website without opening it first

Spotlight supports quick website searches. Type the website name, press Tab, then enter what you want to find. It is a small trick, but useful if you constantly search the same sites.

5. Use Quick Keys for repetitive actions

Spotlight can assign short character combinations to actions you use frequently. Instead of opening an app and hunting through menus, a Quick Key can get you directly to an action with only a few keystrokes.

6. See your iPhone’s Live Activities on the Mac

With a nearby iPhone, Live Activities can appear in the Mac menu bar. That means things such as a flight, sports score, ride or delivery can stay visible while you work. Clicking one can expand it, and supported activities can continue through iPhone Mirroring.

7. Let your Mac screen unknown callers

The Phone app is now on Mac through Continuity. Beyond calls, Recents and Voicemail, Call Screening can ask an unknown caller who they are and why they are calling before you decide whether to answer. For people constantly interrupted by spam calls, this may be one of Tahoe’s most useful additions.

8. Stop sitting on hold

The Mac Phone app also supports Hold Assist. When supported, it can preserve your place while you wait for a live person, allowing you to continue working rather than listening to hold music.

9. Put important folders in their own colors

macOS Tahoe lets you personalize folders with colors, symbols and emoji. This is more than decoration: color-coding active projects, personal files, clients or archives can make a busy Finder window much faster to scan.

10. Customize Control Center and the menu bar

You can change which controls appear in Control Center and the menu bar and how they are arranged. Remove things you never use and put the controls you reach for every day where they are immediately accessible.

Start with these three

If you do not want to learn all ten today, start with Spotlight actions, Clipboard history and Call Screening. They are easy to understand and can make a noticeable difference immediately.

Before upgrading to macOS Tahoe 26

Apple recommends making a backup before upgrading. Not every Tahoe feature is available on every Mac, in every region or language, so check compatibility before relying on a specific feature.
